Sentence types

QuestionAnswer
independent clause can stand by itself or with a dependent clause
dependent clause cannot stand by themselves. do not express a complete thought
simple sentence consists of a single independent clause that includes a subject and a verb
compound sentence joins two independent clauses with the help of a comma and a coordinating conjunction
complex sentence clause and a dependent clause and will always contain a subordinate conjunction
compound-comlex sentence combbines two or more independent clauses with at least one dependent clause
