sentence types

QuestionAnswer
Independent clause Can stand by it's self or with a dependent clause, Expresses a complete thought , subject practice, (no conjunction)
dependent clause cannot stand by themselves. Do not express a complete thought: conjunction+ subject+ predicate.
Simple sentence consists of a single, independent clause that includes a subject and a verb (predicate)
Compound Sentence Joins 2 independent clauses with the help of a comma (,) and a coordinating conjunction or a semicolon (;).
coordinating conjunctions (FANBOYS) For, and, not, but, or, yet, so.
Complex sentence A simple independent clause with a dependent clause.
Compound- Complex Sentence Combines 2 or more independent clauses with at least one dependent clause.
