Types of sentences
| Term | Definition |

| Independent Clause | Can stand by itself or a dependent, expresses a complete thought. Subject+Predicate (no conjunction) |
| Dependent Clause | Cannot stand by themselves, do not express a complete thoughts. conjunction+subject+predicate |
| Simple Sentence | Consists of a single, independent, clause that includes a subject and a verb. (predicate) |
| Compound sentence | joins two independent clauses with the help of a comma and a coordinating conjunction or just a semicolon. |
| Complex Sentence | One independent and one dependent clause joined by a subordinating conjunction |
| Compound-complex sentence | combines two or more independent clauses with at least one dependent clause. |
