Sentence Types

QuestionAnswer
Independent Clause Can stand by itself or with a Depend clause. Expresses a complete thought. Subject + Predicate(No Conjunction.)
Dependent Clause Cannot stand by themselves. Do not express a complete thought. Conjunction+Subject+Predicate
Simple sentence A simple sentence consists of one independent clause that includes a subject a verb and predicate.
Compound Joins two independent clauses with the help of a comma and coordinating conjunction or just a semicolon.
Complex a single independent clause and a dependent clause will always contain a subordinate conjunction (because, after, since, etc.)
compound-complex sentence combines two or more independent clauses with at least one dependent clause
