Sentence Types
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Independent Clause | Can stand by itself or with a dependent clause. Expresses a complete thought. |
| Dependent Clause | Cannot stand by itself. Doesn't express a complete thought. |
| Simple Sentence | Consists of a single independent clause that includes a subject and verb. |
| Compound Sentence | Joins two independent clauses together with the help of a comma and a coordinating conjunction or a a semicolon. |
| Complex Sentence | A single independent clause and dependent clause. |
| Compound-Complex Sentence | Combines two or more independent clauses with at least one dependent clause. |
| Fanboys | For, and, nor, but, or, yet, so. |
