| Similes | A figure of speech using the comparison of one thing with another of a different kind its used to make it more descriptive and vivid using connecting words eg like and as |
| Example of similes | You have a heart of stone |
| Simile function | Helps the reader visualize an object or idea more clearly by relating it to something familiar |
| Metaphors function | Creates a powerful, imaginative link between two things, suggesting they share a deep, underlying quality |
| Personification function | Makes objects relatable and brings the non-human world to life for the reader |
