Personification Giving human qualities, actions, emotions, or feelings to inanimate objects, animals, or ideas
Example of personification The alarm clock yells at me
Alliteration Same sound at the start of each word
Example of alliteration Peter piper picked a peck of pickled peppers
Repetition Repeating the same word to leave a message with the reader
Example of repetition Time after time
Metaphors A way of speaking or writing that describes somthing by comparing one thing to another using the word is
Example of a metaphor He is a tiger when he is angry
Similes A figure of speech using the comparison of one thing with another of a different kind its used to make it more descriptive and vivid using connecting words eg like and as
Example of similes You have a heart of stone
Simile function Helps the reader visualize an object or idea more clearly by relating it to something familiar
Metaphors function Creates a powerful, imaginative link between two things, suggesting they share a deep, underlying quality
Personification function Makes objects relatable and brings the non-human world to life for the reader
Alliteration function Giving human qualities, actions, emotions, or feelings to inanimate objects, animals, or ideas
Repetition function Used to create rhythm, build suspense, emphasize an important theme or idea, or mark the beginning or end of stanzas
