Advertisement Vocab

6th Grade Vocab for Advertisement Unit

TermDefinition
Advertisement A public notice or announcement that promotes a product, service, or idea to persuade people to buy or support it.
Slogan A catchy, memorable phrase used in an advertisement to represent a product or brand. Example: "Just Do It" for Nike.
Logo A unique symbol, design, or graphic used to represent a brand or company.
Target Audience The specific group of people an advertisement is aimed at, based on factors like age, interests, and location.
Brand A name, design, symbol, or feature that identifies a product or company and differentiates it from others.
Commercial A short advertisement, typically on television or online, used to promote a product or service.
Endorsement When a famous person or celebrity publicly supports or recommends a product or service in an advertisement.
Jingle A short and catchy song used in advertisements to make a product memorable.
Product Placement The practice of subtly featuring a product or brand in a movie, TV show, or video to promote it.
Persuasion The act of convincing someone to believe or do something, such as buying a product.
Campaign A series of advertisements or marketing activities designed to promote a product or brand over a period of time.
Media The various ways of delivering advertisements to the public, such as TV, radio, newspapers, and social media.
Consumer A person who purchases or uses goods and services.
Influencer A person with a large following on social media who is paid to promote or endorse products.
Appeal The emotional or logical connection an advertisement makes to persuade people to buy a product. Common appeals include emotional, logical, and ethical.
Call to Action (CTA) A prompt or invitation in an advertisement that encourages people to take a specific action, such as “Buy Now” or “Sign Up Today.”
Visuals The images, colors, and designs used in an advertisement to capture attention and convey messages.
Tagline A short, memorable phrase that sums up a brand or product's message, similar to a slogan, but often more permanent.
Bait and Switch A deceptive advertising tactic where a product is advertised at an attractive price, but when customers try to buy it, they are offered a more expensive item.
Brand Loyalty When consumers repeatedly choose the same brand because they trust it or like it, often due to positive past experiences or strong emotional connections.
