| Proportional | When both sides make an agreement of equal value. |
| Federalism | a system of government in which power is divided and shared between two levels |
| Legislative Branch | the part of government that makes laws. |
| Executive Branch | the part of government responsible for implementing and enforcing laws. |
| Electoral College | the system the United States uses to elect the President and Vice President. Instead of a direct popular vote, voters choose electors who then cast the official votes for these offices. |
| Judicial Branch | the part of government responsible for interpreting laws and ensuring justice. |
| Check and Balances | a system in government designed to ensure that no single branch becomes too powerful. |
| Amendment | a formal change or addition made to a law, constitution, or legal document. |
