| federalism | Sharing power between the sate governments and the federal government. |
| Legislative Branch | Lawmaking Branch of government. |
| Executive Branch | Headed by the president, carries out laws. |
| Electoral College | A group of electors chosen to vote for president and vice president. |
| Judicial Branch | The branch of government that includes courts and settles disputes of law. |
| Check and Balances | The system that ensures no branch of the government is more powerful than another. |
