TermDefinition
Bicameral When there are two different groups of lawmakers
Republic Government where citizens have control by electing representatives.
Ordinance Law.
Depreciate To fall in value.
Depression When unemployment rises and economic activity slows.
Manumission When individual enslaved people are released.
Proportional When two or more things are the correct size or value compared to the other.
compromise When two or more groups make an agreement that settles a dispute, both sides may give a few things up.
federalism Sharing power between the sate governments and the federal government.
Legislative Branch Lawmaking Branch of government.
Executive Branch Headed by the president, carries out laws.
Electoral College A group of electors chosen to vote for president and vice president.
Judicial Branch The branch of government that includes courts and settles disputes of law.
Check and Balances The system that ensures no branch of the government is more powerful than another.
Amendment A change, correction or improvement to a document.
