| Bicameral: | A government with two law-making groups or houses |

| Ordinance: | A local law or rule. |
| Depreciate: | To lose value over time. |
| Depression: | A long period of serious economic problems, like job loss and low spending. |
| Manumission: | The act of freeing someone from slavery. |
| Proportional: | Matching in size or amount to something else. |
| Compromise: | An agreement where each side gives up something to settle a disagreement. |
