| Atom | The smallest basic unit of matter. |
| Element | A pure substance made of only one type of atom that cannot be broken down into simpler substances by chemical means. |
| Proton | A positively charged subatomic particle found in the nucleus of every atom. |
| Neutron | An electrically neutral subatomic particle found in the nucleus of an atom, alongside protons. |
| Electron | A subatomic particle with a negative charge that orbits the nucleus of an atom. |
| Isotope | Atoms of the same element that have the same number of protons but a different number of neutrons. |
| Ion | An atom or molecule that has gained or lost one or more elections, giving it a net electric charge. |
| Compound | A substance formed when two or more different chemical elements are chemically joined together in a fixed ratio. |
| Molecule | A group of two or more atoms held together by chemical bonds. |
| Ionic Bond | A type of chemical bond formed by the electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged ions. |
| Covalent Bond | A chemical bond that involves the sharing of one or more pairs of electrons between atoms to form stable molecules. |
