| Dissolve | To break down and mix evenly with a liquid in such a way that it isn’t possible to tell it apart from the liquid anymore |
| Solution | The mixture that is formed when a substance has dissolved in a solvent (spread evenly throughout) |
| Variable | Item, factor or condition that can be controlled. (Something that can be changed in a test) |
| Fair Test | an experiment carried out to answer a testable question, in which only one variable is changed at a time |
| What substance dissolved? | Salt + Water AND Sugar + Water |
| What substance formed bubbles? | Baking soda + vinegar |
| What substance formed a new material? | Sugar |
| What substance turned blue/black? | Cornstarch + Iodine |
| What substance turned brown and the smell changed when heated and went through a chemical change? | Sugar |
| Chemical Change | The process by which two or more materials react together to create a new substance. |
| Examples of a chemical change: | cooking, baking, melting, change in colorm |
| Chemical Reaction | The action when a chemical change occurs (bubbling, fizzing…) |
