TermDefinition
Dissolve To break down and mix evenly with a liquid in such a way that it isn’t possible to tell it apart from the liquid anymore
Solution The mixture that is formed when a substance has dissolved in a solvent (spread evenly throughout)
Variable Item, factor or condition that can be controlled. (Something that can be changed in a test)
Fair Test an experiment carried out to answer a testable question, in which only one variable is changed at a time
What substance dissolved? Salt + Water AND Sugar + Water
What substance formed bubbles? Baking soda + vinegar
What substance formed a new material? Sugar
What substance turned blue/black? Cornstarch + Iodine
What substance turned brown and the smell changed when heated and went through a chemical change? Sugar
Chemical Change The process by which two or more materials react together to create a new substance.
Examples of a chemical change: cooking, baking, melting, change in colorm
Chemical Reaction The action when a chemical change occurs (bubbling, fizzing…)
