| erosion | the process by which wind, water, ice, or gravity moved weathered rock and soil particles. |
| sediment | Small solid materials that come from the small remains of organisms. |
| deposition | Process in which sediment is laid down in new locations. |
| gravity | The attractive force between two objects : the force that moves object downhill. |
| mass movement | One of many processes in which gravity moves sediment down hill. |
| run off | Water that flows over the ground surface rather than soaking into the ground. |
| rill | A tiny groove in soil made from floating water. |
| gully | A large channel in soil that carries a run off after a rainstorm. |
| stream | A tunnel through which water is continually flowing downhill. |
| tribituary | A stream or river that flows into a larger river. |
| flood plain | A flat, long land of river that goes along the land |
| meander | A loop like bend in the coarse of a river. |
| oxbow lake | A meander cutoff from a river. |
| delta | A land form made of sediment that is deposited where a river flows into a lake or ocean. |
| alluvial fan | A wide sloping, deposit of sediment formed where a stream leaves a mountain range. |
| grroundwater | Water that fills the cracks and spaces in underground soil and rock layers. |
| salacite | An icicle-like that hangs from the top of a cavern. |
| stalagmite | a column like form that grows upward from the floor of a cavern. |
| karst topography | A region in which a layer of limestones close to the surface that creates deep valleys, and taverns. |
| glacier | Any large mass of ice that moves over land. |
| continental glacier | A glacier that covers most of continent or large island. |
| ice age | time in earth's history during which glaciers covered large parts of the surface. |
| valley glacier | A long narrow that forms when snow and ice build up in a mountain valley. |
| plucking | The process by which a glacier picks up rocks as it flows over the land. |
| till | The sediments deposited directly by a glacier. |
| moriane | A form ridged by the till deposited at the end of a glacier. |
| kettle | a small depression that forms when a chunk of ice is left in glacial till. |
