Laryngeal Muscles

QuestionAnswer
Cricothyroid (Actions): stretches and tenses the vocal ligament. Raises pitch. Pulls thyroid cartilage anteriorly w/o moving inferior horns. Lengthen vocal cords (high pitch/ female like sound). Antagonized by thyroarytenoid muscle.
Cricothyroid (innervation): external branch of the superior laryngeal nerve (CNX)
Thyroarytenoids (actions): Sole aBductors of the vocal folds.
Thyroarytenoids (innervation) inferior laryngeal nerve (recurrent laryngeal). CNX
Lateral cricoarytenoids (action) major aBductors of vocal folds.
Lateral cricoarytenoids (innervation): inferior laryngeal nerve (recurrent laryngeal). CNX
Transverse and Oblique arytenoids (action) aDducts arytenoid cartilages narrowing the laryngeal inlet.
Transverse and Oblique arytenoids (innervation) inferior laryngeal nerve (recurrent laryngeal). CNX
