What is anatomical position? The body is in an erect, or standing, posture with the arms at the sides and palms turned forward, the head and feet are also pointing forward.
What is an atomic number? The number of protons in the nucleus of an atom, which identifies the element.
What is the axial subdivision? The head, neck and torso (trunk).
What is an anatomical compass rosette? It signifies anatomical directions rather than geographic directions, as on a map
What is units of matter? Atoms, which are building blocks of all substances. And molecules, which are a group of atoms bonded together.
What is a hypothesis? Idea or principle to be tested in experiments
What is the basement membrane? The union of basal and fibroreticular laminae together to form a thin gluelike connection between a sheet of epithelial cells and the underlying fibrous connective tissue
Name the three types of epithelial tissue membranes in the body. (1) cutaneous membrane, (2) serous membranes, and (3) mucous membranes
Name the four tissue types in the body. (1) epithelial (2) connective (3) muscle (4) nervous
What are the functions of the skin? Protection, sensation, flexibility, excretion, hormone (Vit D) production, immunity, and homeostasis of body temperature.
