| Term | Definition |

| Facts | True statements that can be proven |
| Informative Text | Text written to inform the reader or explain a topic |
| Explicit Information | Information provided directly in the text; factual information |
| Non-fiction | Text that is true and contains facts (examples: newspaper articles, encyclopedia entries, or brochures/pamphlets) |
| Direction/Narration | INformation that sets the scene, indicates time or place, and orients the audience to what is happening |
| Scene | A part of a play in which the action takes place in the same time and place. All actors usually leave the stage when the scene ends |
| Aside | Dialogue that is spoken to the audience as if it cannot be heard by the other actors on the stage |
| Irony | The use of words to convey a meaning that is opposite of its literal meaning |
| Quote | To repeat or copy someone's words to add emphasis |
| Adjective Clause | A dependent clause that begins with a relative pronoun and modifies a noun or a pronoun |
| Interaction | A reciprocal action, effect, or influence |
