| Sequence | The following of one thing after another |
| Character Traits | The qualities shown by a character: the physical, mental, or expressions of their personality |
| Elaborate | To add details to something; to explain more fully |
| Synonym | A word having the same or nearly the same meaning as another word |
| Point of View | Through whose eyes the story is being told |
| Root Word | The primary unit of a word with no prefix or suffix |
| Summary | A brief retelling of the piece of writing in your own words |
| Cliche | An overused saying or idea. (Examples: It's raining cats and dogs, they loved happily ever after, don't judge a book by its cover) |
| Concrete Details | A detail that is a real idea and comes from the five senses |
| Inference | A logical guess based on facts or your own knowledge |
| Pronunciation | The way in which a word is said correctly |
| Skim | To read something quickly, not in depth |
