| 2nd Amendment | protects the right of the people to own guns. |
| 3rd Amendment | stops the government from forcing citizens to allow soldiers to live in their homes. |
| 4th Amendment | protects a citizen's right to privacy and from unreasonable searches by the government. |
| 5th Amendment | protects your rights to due process of law, against double jeopardy (being tried twice) and self-incrimination (telling on yourself). |
| 6th Amendment | protects your rights in a criminal trial including the right to a jury and an attorney (lawyer) to help you in a court case. |
| 7th Amendment | protects your rights in a civil trial. |
| 8th Amendment | protects people who are found guilty from punishment that would be cruel, unusual, or excessive. |
| 9th Amendment | gives the people the right to protection from anything else not already listed. |
| 10th Amendment | protects the rights and power of state governments. |
