QuestionAnswer
Who organized the periodic table Dimitri Mendeleev
the periodic table elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic number
how many period level are there 7
each level corresponds to a principal energy level
when elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic number there is a periodic repetition of their physical and chemical properties the properties change in a systemic way periodic law
Vertical columns are called Groups
how many vertical columns are there 18 groups
elements in a group have similar properties (react similarly)
each element of a group has the same number of valence electrons
what are the four elements on the table metals, non-metals, metalloids and noble gas
Ever element the left of the zig-zag are metals
what are the four properties Conductivity, Melting Point, malleability and solubility
conductivity means electricity
melting point object into water
malleability bend something
solubility mixing a object into water
Metals are malleable
metals are a good conductor for heat and electricity
metals are solids at room temperature
non metals are poor conductor for heat and Electricity
non-metals lack brittle, metallic, luster
All Noble gas are found in Group 18
elements in group 18 have 8 valence electrons
noble gases are monatomic gases
The elements on the periodic table of the elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic number
most of the groups in the periodic table of the elements contain metals and metalloids
Si 2 and Si 3 are the same elements that have different molecular structures and different properties
The electrons in the outer shell are known as valence electrons

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
