What is homeostasis? Homeostasis is the body’s ability to maintain a stable internal environment necessary for survival and proper cell function.
Why is homeostasis important for the body? Without homeostasis, cells cannot function properly, and the body may become sick or die if internal conditions are not restored.
What are the major types of biomolecules? Carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins.
What is cell membrane transport? A process that controls what enters and leaves a cell, critical for muscle, nerve, and hormone function.
What is the significance of the cell life cycle? It is essential for cell growth, reproduction, genetic continuity, and preventing conditions like cancer.
What can errors in cell reproduction cause? Genetic disorders, cancer, or other severe conditions.
What is tissue? A group of similar cells working together to perform a specific function in the body.
Why is it important to understand tissue types? Because each organ contains all four tissue types, and their interaction determines organ function.
What two connective tissues primarily make up the skeleton? Bone and cartilage.
What are articulations (joints)? Points where bones meet, allowing movement or stability depending on the type.
What is muscle function? Muscles are responsible for movement, heat production, and maintaining posture.
What are immovable joints? Joints like skull sutures that do not permit movement but provide strong protection.
