TermDefinition
Homeostasis Homeostasis is the process your body uses to keep things balanced and stable inside, like temperature, water levels, and pH, even when the outside world changes.
Biomolecules Biomolecules are the natural chemicals found in living things that make up cells and carry out life’s functions. Examples include proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids
Cell Membrane thin, flexible barrier that surrounds a cell, controlling what enters and leaves
Skin Skin is your body’s biggest organ and acts like a protective shield.
Muscle Contraction Muscle contraction happens when the proteins actin and myosin slide past each other to make the muscle shorter and tighter.
Myosin & Actin Myosin and actin are proteins that work together to help muscles contract.
isometric contraction A contraction in which muscle length remains the same but muscle tension increases
Knee fact The largest and most commonly injured joint in the body is the knee joint
Dorsiflexion occurs when the foot is tilted upward, thus decreasing the angle between the top of the foot and the front of the leg
ATP The energy required for muscular contraction is obtained by hydrolysis of
