| Sound Devices | Techniques poets use to make their writing sound musical or rhythmic, using words to create sound. |
| Repetition | When a word, phrase, or line is used more than once for emphasis or rhythm. |
| Symbolism | When an object, color, or idea stands for something deeper or represents another meaning. |
| Rhythm | The beat or flow of a poem, created by how the words and syllables sound together. |
| Assonance | When vowel sounds are repeated in nearby words. (a, e, i, o, u) |
| Consonance | When consonant sounds are repeated in the middle or end of words. |
