What is bone marrow, and what does it do? Bone marrow is soft tissue inside bones that produces blood cells (red marrow) and stores fat (yellow marrow).
What is the skeletal system's basic organizational unit? Individual bones, considered separate and discrete organs.
What type of tissue stores energy in the skeleton? Fatty tissue (adipose tissue), mainly found in yellow bone marrow.
What are articulations in the skeletal system? Points of contact between bones that either stabilize the skeleton or allow movement.
What makes joints essential to skeletal function? They provide stability and enable mobility between bones.
