Geography the study of Earth's writings and drawings of physical features, human populations, and natural resources
latitude parallel lines that measure the distance of a place north or south of the Equator (horizontal lines)
longitude the meridians that measure the distance of a place east or west of the Prime Meridian (vertical lines)
hemisphere half of the earth
Equator an imaginary line drawn around the Earth that is 0 degrees latitude
Prime Meridian an imaginary line drawn around the Earth that is 0 degrees of longitude
relative describing the location of a place by its position and relationship to other places or features around it, rather than by exact coordinates (absolute location)
scale the ratio between distances on a map and the corresponding distances on the ground
region a specific area on the Earth's surface that is defined by sharing common characteristics, whether they are physical (like climate or landforms) cultural (like language or religion) Economic (like industries) or political (like borders)
boundary a real or imaginary line that separates different regions, political entities, or territories, defining the limits of a state's sovereignty and influencing governance, identity, and resource management
source the point of origin of something, most commonly the starting point of a river or stream, which can be a spring, lake, or melting glacier
