TermDefinition
What are 2 types of feedback to control homeostasis? Negative feedback negate variables by stabilizing and producing an action opposite of the change. Positive feedback stimulate or amplify the change (child birth).
What are 3 levels of control? Intracellular regulations within the cell, intrinsic (autoregulation) within tissues or organs, extrinsic organ to organ
What are the levels of protein structure? Primary- sequence of amino acids that make up a peptide chain. Secondary- polypeptides are coiled shaped like spirals. Tertiary- complex globular shape, quaternary highest level of organization.
Components of RNA? composed of ribose (sugar) , phosphate and nitrogen base (adenine, uracil, guanine, cytosine) can have temporary copies of DNA code .
What is diffusion? Molecules move through membranes from an area of higher concentration to lower concentration (gradient) diffusion is not possible when concentration is equal.
what is facilitated diffusion? A special diffusion where movement of molecules is made by transporters embedded in a cells membrane. Energy required comes from collision energy.
What are 2 types of cell metabolism? Catabolism breaks down large molecules into smaller ones releasing energy. Anabolism builds larger molecules with smaller ones this consumes energy.
What are the principle types of tissue? epithelial covers and protects the body surface, connective supports the body and its parts can transport substances, protects from invaders, muscles produces movement, nervous communication amongst various body.
Purpose of ECM extra cellular matrix? It’s the non-living material between cells, consists of water, proteins an collagen, helps hold tissues together and provides local communication with many cells.
What are the divisions of the skeleton? The axial skeleton made up of 154 bones of the head neck and torso (midline). The Appendicular skeleton made up of 126 bones from appendages that connect to the axial skeleton.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.

To see how well you know the information, try the Quiz or Test activity.
