What is articulation and what is the main function of articulation? A bone where two bones meet. The function is to allow movement and provide support
What triggers muscle contraction? a signal from a motor neuron
What is ATP's role in muscle contraction? it gives energy for myosin to pull on actin
What are enzymes? special proteins that speed up chemical reactions
What is homeostasis? keeping the body's internal environment stable (like temperature, water, and sugar levels
What are the main parts of a homeostasis system? 1. receptor- it senses changes in the body 2. control center- it decides what to do about the changes 3. effector- it acts to fix the changes and bring the body back to normal
What are 4 types of biomolecules and what are their function? 1. carbohydrates- they give quick energy (like starch and sugar) 2. proteins- they build and repair body parts and help w/ chemical reaction 3. lipids- they store energy and make up cell membranes (fat&oil) 4. lipids- they cary genetic information (DNA
What does the mitochondria do? it makes energy for the cell called ATP
What is the main job of a cell? to carry out life processes like making energy, growing and reproduction
What do sebaceous glands do? produce oil (sebum) that keeps skin and hair soft and prevent drying out
