What is the main function of the muscular system? To produce movement, maintain posture, and generate body heat.
What are the three types of muscle tissue? Skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscle.
What is the sliding filament theory? Muscle contraction occurs when myosin heads attach to actin filaments and pull them inward, shortening the sarcomere.
What neurotransmitter triggers skeletal muscle contraction? Acetylcholine (ACh)
What is the main function of the nervous system? To control and coordinate body functions through electrical impulses and chemical signals.
What are the two main divisions of the nervous system? The central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS).
What is the function of the cardiovascular system? To transport oxygen, nutrients, hormones, and waste products throughout the body.
What are the four chambers of the heart? Right atrium, right ventricle, left atrium, and left ventricle.
What is the function of the respiratory system? To exchange gases — oxygen is brought in and carbon dioxide is expelled.
What is the pathway of air through the respiratory system? Nose → pharynx → larynx → trachea → bronchi → bronchioles → alveoli.
