Homeostasis The process by which the body maintains a stable internal environment despite external changes.
Cell Membrane A thin, flexible barrier that controls what enters and leaves the cell.
Mitochondria The powerhouse of the cell that produces energy (ATP) through cellular respiration.
Tissue A group of similar cells that work together to perform a specific function.
Anatomy The study of the structure of body parts and their relationships to one another.
Physiology The study of how the body and its parts work or function.
Homeostatic Imbalance A disturbance in homeostasis that can lead to disease or dysfunction.
Osmosis The movement of water molecules through a selectively permeable membrane from high to low concentration.
Enzyme A protein that speeds up chemical reactions in the body.
Nucleus The control center of the cell that contains genetic material (DNA).
