ANATOMY Study of the structure of an organism and the relationships of its parts
PHYSIOLOGY Science that deals with the functions of the living organisms and its parts
METABOLISM All the chemical reactions that occur in body cells
EPITHELIAL TISSUE Covers and protects the body surface, lines body cavities, specializes in moving substances into and out of the body or particular organs and forms many glands.
CONNECTIVE TISSUE Functions to supports the body and its parts, connect and hold them together, transports substances through the body, and protect it from foreign invaders.
MUSCLE TISSUE Produces movement; it moves the body and its parts.
NERVOUS TISSUE Specializes in communication among the various parts of the body and in integration of their activities.
BONES Rigid, mineralized structures that help perform five major roles in the body.
LIGAMENTS Fibrous bands that help hold the various bones together into an organized skeleton.
OSTEOCLASTS Giant multinucleate cells that are responsible for the active erosion of bone minerals.
