TermDefinition
midsegment of a triangle a line segment that connects the midpoints of two sides of the triangle
coordinate proof uses the coordinate plane and algebra to prove geometric statements
perpendicular bisector a line, segment, or ray that crosses a line segment at its midpoint and forms a right (90 degree) angle
equidistant being at the same distance from a point, line, or set of objects
point of concurrency the single point where 3 or more lines, rays, or line segments intersect
circumcenter the point where the three perpendicular bisectors of a triangle's sides intersect
incenter the point where the three angle bisectors of a triangle intersect
Median of a Triangle a line segment drawn from a vertex to the midpoint of the opposite side
Centroid the geometric center of a shape, found at the intersection of its medians
altitude of a triangle a line segment drawn from a vertex that is perpendicular to the opposite side
Orthocenter the intersection point of the three altitudes of a triangle
Indirect Proof a method of proving a statement by first assuming the opposite of the statement is true
