| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| midsegment of a triangle | a line segment that connects the midpoints of two sides of the triangle |
| coordinate proof | uses the coordinate plane and algebra to prove geometric statements |
| perpendicular bisector | a line, segment, or ray that crosses a line segment at its midpoint and forms a right (90 degree) angle |
| equidistant | being at the same distance from a point, line, or set of objects |
| point of concurrency | the single point where 3 or more lines, rays, or line segments intersect |
| circumcenter | the point where the three perpendicular bisectors of a triangle's sides intersect |
| incenter | the point where the three angle bisectors of a triangle intersect |
| Median of a Triangle | a line segment drawn from a vertex to the midpoint of the opposite side |
| Centroid | the geometric center of a shape, found at the intersection of its medians |
| altitude of a triangle | a line segment drawn from a vertex that is perpendicular to the opposite side |
| Orthocenter | the intersection point of the three altitudes of a triangle |
| Indirect Proof | a method of proving a statement by first assuming the opposite of the statement is true |
