What is Puritanism? a religious movement with the goal to purify the church or england and bring simplicity back to the church.
How is Puritan life boring no reading, theaters holidays you must pray more ( no Christmas) no vain enjoyment
How is Puritan life fun maybe When there's a new farmhouse everyone raises the roof and there's special food/cider
How did the Puritans see themsleves? thought they were living and doing god's duty. believed they were creating purity in the world.
Why do people take advantage of publicly expressing guilt and accusing people? hatred between people could be openly expressed/vengeance could be taken people who bickered over land/boundary could accuse each other and would be justified
what does the quote "wheels within wheels and fires within fires" supposed to mean? what one person says/does affects what other people say/do so many issues and people sinning in salem
what types of evidence were brought against Marth carrier? death/illness/injury, spectral (spiritual), conflict (unfriendly/sus). Most were opinion/interpreted and weren't proven facts, no witnesses, no other logical reason to the conflicts/issues.
What is spectral evidence? evidence that can't be proven, used when it was believed that witches could send their specter to torment someone.
Who were the first members of the community accused? outsider (kept to themselves, could have made people fear them, different than puritan norms)
What are some characteristics of Puritans that could have cause the belief in witchcraft? selfish, all believed in the devil, no one wanted to stand out, hid individualities, no science/medicine. isolated from other villages.

what are some family values/dynamics of puritans? led mortal lives, read the bible, modest, plain
what are some witch "tests" throwing someone in the water and if they float their a witch, if anyone had a scratch, mark or bite on their body it was the devils mark
