(1) Homeostasis relative constancy of the normal body’s internal (fluid) environment
(2) Intrinsic Control level of homeostatic control of body processes that occurs within a particular tissue or organ, as when local regulators such as prostaglandins regulate
(3) Adenosine Triphosphate chemical compound that provides energy for use by body cells
(4) Macromolecule large, complex chemical made of combinations of molecules
(5) Catabolism breakdown of food compounds or cytoplasmic constituents into simpler compounds; opposite of anabolism
(6) Electron Transport System carrier molecules embedded in the inner membrane of the mitochondria that take high-energy electrons from the citric acid cycle and form water and energy for oxidative phosphorylation
(7) Cytokinesis process by which a dividing cell splits its cytoplasm and plasma membrane into two distinct daughter cells; cytokinesis happens along with mitosis (or meiosis) during the cell division process
(8) Polyribosome temporary structure formed within a cell by many ribosomes following one another along a strand of mRNA during the process of translation
(9) Cutaneous Membrane primary organ of the integumentary system; the skin
