| wetland | an area of land where the ground is usually covered with water, such as a swamp, bog, or marsh |

| monopoly | exclusive control of a product or service in a particular market |
| bankrupt | to have no money left |
| inflation | a condition in which the price of goods increases as the value of money decreases |
| infrastructure | the basic structures that help communities run, such as roads, ports, aqueducts, powerplants, cell towers, etc. |
| judicial | related to the legal system and to judgments made in a court of law |
| emancipate | to set free from slavery or from other bondage |
| Creole | a person born in Louisiana, but usually of French heritage |
