Atoms Tiny spheres of matter so small they are invisible
Anatomical Position Body is in erect or standing posture with arms to the side and palms turned forward
Transverse Plane Any crosswise plane that divides the body or any of its parts
Metabolism All the chemical reactions that occur in body cells
Carbohydrate Contain the elements carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen; ratio of 1:2:1
Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) Very important molecule composed of an adenine and ribose sugar
Golgi Apparatus Stack of flattened sacs surrounded by vesicles
Autogaphy This process is called “self eating”
Epidermis The superficial, thinner layer
Dermis The deep, thicker layer
