Hydroxide ions Negatively charged particles formed when a base dissolves in water
Ammonium sulfite relaxer No-lye, low pH (6.5-8.5) Adv - Less damaging to the hair/not a common ingredient Dis- Does not sufficiently relax highly texture hair/coarse hair
Ammonium thioglycolate relaxer No-lye, thio relaxer, (9.6-10.0) Adv-Suitable for clients that was to keep "texture" in their hair Dis- NOT compatible when has hair been previously treated with Lye or no-lye, or on highly textured hair
Guanidine hydroxide relaxer No-lye (9.0-11.0) Adv- Suitable for clients with a looser curl or wave pattern Dis-NOT suitable for highly textured hair. May dehydrate and damage hair by causes less skin irritation
