TermDefinition
Main idea What the text is mostly about. To summarize The central idea of a story.
Details Supports the main idea. Gives more information about the main idea.
Cause Why something happened.
Effect The result of what happened.
Inference To use what I know and what the text says to make an educated guess. To infer To draw a conclusion
Context Clues Clues around an unknown word to help me determine what it means.
synonyms Words that have the same meaning
Antonyms Words that have opposite meanings
Prefix A morpheme that goes at the beginning of a root/base word.
Suffix A morpheme that goes at the end of a root/base word.
Relationship Connections, similarities
Interactions Doing something or talking to someone.
Compare/Contrast How two or more things/people/events are alike and different.
Tone How the author feels
Point of view The perspective of someone. How they feel about something
