| Main idea | What the text is mostly about. To summarize The central idea of a story. |
| Details | Supports the main idea. Gives more information about the main idea. |
| Cause | Why something happened. |
| Effect | The result of what happened. |
| Inference | To use what I know and what the text says to make an educated guess. To infer To draw a conclusion |
| Context Clues | Clues around an unknown word to help me determine what it means. |
| synonyms | Words that have the same meaning |
| Antonyms | Words that have opposite meanings |
| Prefix | A morpheme that goes at the beginning of a root/base word. |
| Suffix | A morpheme that goes at the end of a root/base word. |
| Relationship | Connections, similarities |
| Interactions | Doing something or talking to someone. |
| Compare/Contrast | How two or more things/people/events are alike and different. |
| Tone | How the author feels |
| Point of view | The perspective of someone. How they feel about something |
