| Gliding Synovial Joint | No rotation, slides side to side/back and forth |
| Condyloid Synovial Joint | Fits condyles of a bone into bone cavity, mainly one plane of movement |
| Saddle Synovial Joint | Moves in two planes, only found in carpometacarpal (thumb) |
| Hinge Synovial Joint | One axis of movement, one plane of movement |
| Pivot Synovial Joint | Only one axis, moves in transverse plane of motion (rotating) |
| Ball & Socket Synovial Joint | Most mobile, moves in all 3 planes of motion |
| Ligaments | Connect bone to bone |
| Tendon | Connect muscle to bone |
