Gliding Synovial Joint No rotation, slides side to side/back and forth
Condyloid Synovial Joint Fits condyles of a bone into bone cavity, mainly one plane of movement
Saddle Synovial Joint Moves in two planes, only found in carpometacarpal (thumb)
Hinge Synovial Joint One axis of movement, one plane of movement
Pivot Synovial Joint Only one axis, moves in transverse plane of motion (rotating)
Ball & Socket Synovial Joint Most mobile, moves in all 3 planes of motion
Ligaments Connect bone to bone
Tendon Connect muscle to bone
