What are the three planes of body sectioning? Sagittal, frontal (coronal), and transverse planes.
Which system transports oxygen and nutrients? The circulatory (cardiovascular) system, through the heart and blood vessels
What is diffusion? The movement of molecules from high to low concentration without energy—nature’s effortless balancing act.
What is osmosis? The diffusion of water through a selectively permeable membrane to equalize concentration.
What is the primary function of the lymphatic system? To defend against infection and maintain fluid balance in tissues.
What are the main body cavities? Dorsal cavity (cranial & spinal) and ventral cavity (thoracic & abdominopelvic).
Which system transports oxygen and nutrients? The circulatory (cardiovascular) system, through the heart and blood vessels
What is a neuron? A specialized nerve cell that sends and receives messages—like a tiny electrical messenger.
What is the liver’s key function? To detoxify blood, produce bile, and regulate nutrients.
what is hemoglobin? A protein in red blood cells that binds oxygen for transport.
What is the spinal cord’s main job? To relay messages between the brain and the rest of the body, and to control reflexes.
What is the endocrine system’s purpose? To release hormones that regulate growth, metabolism, and homeostasis.
Name the levels of structural organization in the body. Chemical → Cellular → Tissue → Organ → System → Organism
What does the integumentary system include? Skin, hair, nails, and glands that protect and regulate body temperature.
Which system provides body movement and generates heat? The muscular system
