What is Homeostasis? Homeostasis is the stability, balance, or equilibrium within a cell or a body. (constant internal environment)
What is a Tertiary protein structure? A three-dimensional protein folding pattern due to side chain interactions.
What is a Quaternary protein structure? A protein consisting of more than one amino acid chain.
What are the steps of Mitosis? Prophase, Prometaphase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telophase, which all lead up to Cytokinesis.
What is included in the germ layer Ectoderm? Epidermis, skin glands, some cranial bones, pituitary and adrenal medulla, the nervous system, the mouth between the cheeks and gums, and the anus.
What is included in the germ layer Mesoderm? Connective tissues proper, bones, cartilage, blood, endothelium of blood vessels, muscle synovial membranes, serous membranes lining body cavities, kidneys, and the lining of gonads.
What is included in the germ layer Endoderm? Lining of digestive system and airways (except the mouth, rectum, and anal canal), digestive glands, endocrine glands, and the adrenal cortex.
What is the 2 types/functions of bone marrow? The bone marrow, which is red & yellow, produce red blood cells and stores energy as fat.
What does Adipocytes, found in yellow bone marrow, store and release for energy? Fat and Triglycerides.
What does the transverse tubule structure allow? It allows the electrical signals to travel along the sarcolemma, moving deeper into the cell.
