What are the two major types of bone tissue? Compact bone (dense and strong) Spongy Bone ( lighter and contains bone marrow)
What are the three main types of neurons in the nervous system? Sensory neurons, Motor neurons, and interneurons
What is Homeostasis? Homeostasis is the body's ability to maintain a stable internal environment despite changes in the external environment.
What is the main function of the cell membrane? The cell membrane controls the movement of substances in and out of the cell and maintains cellular integrity.
What are the four main types of tissues in the human body? Epithelial Tissue, Connective Tissue, Muscle Tissue and Nervous Tissue
What are the base pairs in DNA? Adenine (A) pairs with Thymine (T) and Cytosine (C) pairs with Guanine (G).
What type of connective tissue stores energy? Adipose tissue
What is the function of osteoblasts in bone tissue? Osteoblasts are cells that build new bone by secreting bone matrix.
What is the function of ribosomes in the cell? Ribosomes are responsible for protein synthesis.
Which part of the skin contains blood vessels and nerve endings? The Dermis layer
What type of connective tissue connects bones to muscles? Tendon connects muscles to bones
What part of the neuron receives incoming signals? The Dendrites.
What part of the brain controls balance and coordination? The Cerebellum.
What molecule is the primary energy carrier in cells? ATP (adenosine triphosphate)
Which layer of the skin contains melanocytes? The stratum basale
What is a synapse? A junctions between two neurons where neurotransmitters send signals
What structure insulates axons and increases signal transmission speed? The myelin sheath
What is the main ion involved in muscle contraction and nerve signaling? Calcium ions
