What are Stimulus-gated channels? They're ion channels that open in response to chemicals produced by a sensory stimulus or by a chemical stimulus received from another neuron.
What are the six major brain divisions? medulla oblongata, pons, midbrain, cerebellum, diencephalon, and cerebrum.
How is the lumbar plexus formed? It's formed by the intermingling of fibers from the first four lumbar nerves.
What is the enteric nervous system (ENS)? The ENS is the intestinal nervous system” that is made up of a complex network of nerve plexuses buried between layers of the intestinal (gut) wall.
General senses consist of? microscopic receptors widely distributed throughout the body in the skin, mucosa, connective tissues, muscles, tendons, joints, and viscera.
What are the four classifications of the tongue papillae? Fungiform papillae, Circumvallate papillae, Foliate papillae, Filiform papillae.
What is the unique characteristic of Norepinephrine (NE)? Is an example of a chemical messenger that can be either a hormone or neurotransmitter.
Neurohypophysis serves as a storage and release site for what two hormones? Antidiuretic hormone (ADH) and oxytocin (OT).
Erythrocyte is unique because? it does not contain ribosomes, mitochondria, and other organelles typical of most body cells.
What are the four structures make up the core of the electrical conduction system of the heart? Sinoatrial (SA) node, Atrioventricular (AV) node, Atrioventricular (AV) bundle (bundle of His), Subendocardial branches (Purkinje fibers).
