| Anatomy | the scientific study of the structures of organisms, including their systems, organs, and tissues |
| Physiology | The study of how the body's organs, tissues, and cells function. |
| nucleus | the central and most important part of an object, movement, or group, forming the basis for its activity and growth |
| organelles | a specialized, membrane-bound structure within a cell that performs a specific function, like a tiny organ within the larger cell. |
| cytoplasm | the jelly-like substance inside a cell that surrounds the organelles, like a "swimming pool" for cell parts. It fills the space between the cell membrane and the nucleus in eukaryotic cells. |
| epidermis | the thin, outermost layer of the skin that acts as a protective barrier against germs, water loss, and other environmental threats. |
| stratum basale | known as the basal layer or germinativum layer, is the deepest layer of the epidermis, the outer layer of the skin. It is a single layer of cuboidal or columnar cells that are responsible for producing new skin cells (keratinocytes). |
