| Dumbfound | To make speechless with amazement |
| Ensue | To follow; to come as a result of at a later time. |
| Era | A particular period in history. |
| Flourish | To thrive or prosper. To wave in the air. A sweeping motion. A showy burst of music. A fancy line or curve, added to something written. |
| Garrison | Soldiers stationed in a place to protect it. A military place of protection. To provide soldiers with a place to live. |
| Grievous | Causing grief or pain; hard to bear. |
| Hoard | To save and put away, especially secretly. |
| Inundate | To cover, as with water from a flood. To load with an excessive amount or number of something. |
| Invincible | Impossible to defeat. |
| Nomad | A member of a group that settles briefly in one place and then moves on to another. |
| Placate | To stop from being angry; to calm. |
| Principal | Most important. A person or thing that is of the greatest importance. The head of a school. The sum of money owed, not including the interest. |
| Recede | To move back or drop to a lower level. To become fainter. |
| Ruthless | Showing no mercy, pitiless. |
| Sacrifice | Something given up for the sake of another. An offering to a god. To give up something for another. To offer something of value to a god. |
