Dulaglutide MOA and Major SE Dulaglutide works by stimulating insulin secretion. It has a risk of hypoglycemia, and nausea. Nausea subsides after 2 weeks
Metformin MOA and side effects. Off label use? When should you hold this med? Decreases glucose production in the liver, can not cause hypoglycemia, decreases LDLs. Hold 48 hours before iv contrast because of lactic acidosis. Off label used for PCOS
Empaglifozin MOA and black box warning Blocks resorption of glucose at the proximal convoluted tubule, decreases risk of CV death, and has a higher risk of lower limb amputations as a blackbox warning.
Glipizide MOA Stimulates pancreatic beta cells to release insulin. Discontinue 1 month before delivery
Sitagliptin MOA, what can it cause rarely Augments incretin, promoting release ofinsulin and decreasing secretion of glucagon. Can cause pancreatitis rarely
Phlebitis Nursing interventions D/c IV, moist warm compress
Infiltration nursing interventions D/c IV, elevate limb, moist warm compress
Extravastation nursing interventions D/c IV, apply cool compress, administer antidote
When are colloids indicated? Bleeding or protein deficits
Hypotonic solution indications? Adverse effects? dehydration, burns, trauma, dka, hyperosmolar hyperglycemia, and can cause cell lysis and hypovolemia

Hypertonic solutions are indicated for cerebral edema and hyponatremia

PPI med interactions CAn decrease effectiveness of clopidogrel and increase bleeding risk of warfarin.

Famotidine class? When is it used? H2 receptor antagonist, used in short term gerd and other stomach acid problems
Sucralfate function Puts a protective coating over the ulcer, 2 hour separation between phenytoin, warfarin, cipro, and digoxin.
What is the antidote for bethanechol Atropine
How does finasteride work? What is the off label use? Blocks testosterone conversion reducing prostate size. Takes 3-4 months. Can cause sexual dysfunction and gynecomastia. Used off label for hirsutism
Tamsulosin is used for? Used for BPH, improves urine flow and is used off label for kidney stones. Relaxes smooth muscle of bladder
Ciprofloxacin black box warning Can cause tendon ruptures. take with full glass of water
