| Adenoids | masses of lymphatic tissue located in the nasopharynx (the upper part of the throat behind the nose), playing a role in immune defense |

| Paranasal sinuses | Air-filled spaces around the nasal cavity |
| Visceral pleura | Membrane covering the lungs |
| Atelectasis | Collapsed lung "incomplete expansion" |
