| Thalamus | Sends sensory info to right destination- perceive things like pain, touch, temperature, sound, consciousness, it's your relay station for sensory information. |
| Hypothalamus | Keeps your body in balance- helps regulates body temperature (Keeps you from overheating or freezing) Hunger and thirst (tells you when to eat or drink) Sleep-wake cycles (Helps control circadian Rhythm) etc. |
| Limbic system consists of | Amygdala and hippocampus |
| Amygdala | Memory and survival insticts (fear and threat detection and emotional memory) |
| hippocampus | Memory formation (Converts short term memory into longterm ones) learning, spatial navigation (Building mental maps) |
| Pons | A bridge, send signals between cerebrum and cerebellum (Important for movement coordination), plays a role in sleep and arousal, balance and posture. |
| cerebellum | Coordinates balance, posture, and fine motor movements |
| Temporal lobe | hearing and auditory processing, language comprehension (wernickes area) Memory formation (hippocampus) |
| Occipital lobe | Visual perception and interpretation (recognize shapes, colors and motion |

| frontal lobe | Decision making, problem solving, planning (Brocas area-speech production and language processing) |
