Paresis Partial loss of voluntary muscle contraction due to UMN lesions (Partial Paralysis or weakness
Paralysis: complete loss of voluntary muscle contraction).
Atrophy loss of bulk muscle
Flaccid Paralysis: Weakness or loss of muscle tone, caused by infections, inflammations or immune issues
Rubrospinal Tract innervates LMNs for arm flexion
lateral reticulospinal tract stimulates LMNs for limb flexors while inhibits extensors
Lateral Corticospinal Tract – direct conscious control to appendicular skeletal muscles
Lateral Upper Motor Neurons fine movement and and limb flexation tracts
Medial (Anterior) Corticospinal tracts contols head movements and travels ipsilatterally
Medial Reticulospinal tract cervical and spinal cord regions, travels ipsilatterally
Lateral Vestibulospinal tract inhibits flexors in the spinal region
Medial Vestibulospinal tract head neck and back muscles bilatterally
Tectospinal tract midline, head and neck reflexes
UMNs arise directly from the cerebral cortex or arise within the brainstem
Axons of Upper Motor Neurons/ UMNs), Deliver movement information from primary motor cortex
