Who is responsible for work health safety in the workplace. Everyone in the workplace is responsible, employees, employers and clients.
What WHS act is in Victoria. The occupational health and safety act of 2004
Who is Victorias regulator. The regulator is WorkSafe Victoria.
Hazard any source or situation with the potential for harm in terms of human injury or ill health.
Risk the chance of something unwanted happening that will have a negative effect.
What is a risk determined by The likelihood of the unwanted event occuring and the potential consequences.
Risk factor. Something that increases the chance of the unwanted event occuring
Controls Measures put in place to decrease the likelihood or consequences of an unwanted event.
Likelihood The likelihood is the chance of the threat occurring
Consequences The impact of the risk
Policy A policy is the documented principles, objectives, obligations and commitments that guide WHS decision-making within a business, such as a code of conduct, OHS policy, privacy and confidentiality policy
Procedure A the documented processes that guide working practices in a business. They are the step by step instructions on how a job or task should be conducted safely
Hazard Identification The process of finding, listing and characterising hazards, by assessing the likelihood, consequences and severity,
Physical Hazards Factors or conditions in the workplace Noise, Sharps, Machinery
Biological Hazards Organic substances Mould, Dust, Body Fluids,
Chemical Hazards Toxic solids, liquids or gases. Flammable, Reactive, Corrosive,
