| Term | Definition |

| Anatomical Position | Person is erect, palms facing anteriorly, with feet apart. |
| Three types of special junctions | Desmosomes, tight junctions, and gap junctions. |
| Femur | Longest and strongest bone in body, located in the thigh. It connects the knee and hip joints. |
| Tibia | Also known as the shinbone. It is the anterior bone in the lower leg also the larger of the two. |
| Fibula | Smaller bone in the lower leg, it is on the lateral side, and runs parallel to the tibia. |
| Patella | Kneecap |
| Pelvis | Bony structure that resides in the lower portion of the trunk. It connects the spine and lower extremities. It is made up of 4 bones ; left and right hipbones, coccyx, and sacrum. |
| Tarsals | Group of 7 bones in the heel and ankle area. They include the cuboid, navicular, talus, & cuneiform bones. |
| Metatarsals | Five long bones in the mid foot that form the arch of the foot. |
| Phalanges | Bones that make up the fingers and toes. |
| Lumbar Spine | Set of 5 vertebrae in the lower part of the spine that connects to the sacrum. L1-L5 |
| Thoracic Spine | Middle section of spinal column that consists of 12 vertebrae T1-T12 in descending order. |
| Cervical Spine | Upper section of spinal column that consists of 7 vertebrae C1-C7. |
| Atlas & Axis | First two vertebrae in cervical spine that allow for head and neck movements. |
