| Orbit | Path planets follow when they revolve the sun |
| Solstice | Longest or shortest day of the year |
| Equinox | Is not titled towards the sun |
| Gravity | Force that attracts all the other objects toward each other |

| Solar eclipse | When the moon passes directly between the earth and the sun during a new moon |

| Penumbra | Area of a shadow where light is partially blocked |
| Tide | Daily rise and fall of sea water |
| Spring tide | Higher high tide during a full moon |
| Need tide | Lower high tide during the first and third quarter moons |
| Maria | Dark smooth lava covered areas on the moon |
| Highlands | Higher lighter ares on the moon covered with craters |
